Ryukishi07 (竜騎士07 Ryūkishi rei nana) or Dragon Knight 07, born November 19, 1973, is the pen name of a Japanese artist/writer.
He is most known as the original creator of the visual novel series Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umineko no Naku Koro ni. He is the representative member of the group 07th Expansion.
His pen name originated from Reina of Final Fantasy V—"07", in Japanese, can be pronounced as "reina-na", and "Ryukishi" means "dragon knight", referring to Reina's wyvern. A character from his work, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, is also named Reina.
His illustration style is recognizable from the large hands he draws in people, as seen in his doujins and visual novels.
His works cover a variety of genres, though one defining characteristic of his flagship franchise, When they cry, is the use of the same character across different "worlds," such as Takano appearing in Hotarubi or Okonogi appearing in Umineko.
